Monday, 02 February 2009

The British band behind 90s hits like Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger is headed to South Africa for the first time ever, as Oasis prepare to headline the 2009 Coca Cola Zero Fest. Oasis will rock SA for the first time this April.

Also known as the "My Coke Fest", the annual rock festival takes place in April with shows at Johannesburg's New Market Racecourse and Cape Town's Ostrich Farm. Oasis will be joined by a line-up of international as well as local bands. Confirmed acts include Bullet for my Valentine, Snow Patrol and Panic at the Disco, as well as South Africa's Zebra and Giraffe and The Dirty Skirts.

The Festival is expected to attract 60 000 rock lovers.

Oasis' appearance forms part of the bands largest-ever world tour which includes shows in Canada, United States, UK, Mexico, China and Japan.

Led by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, Oasis rose to fame in 1995 with the release of their second album What's the Story Morning Glory. The album sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

Oasis is currently promoting their 10th album entitled Dig Out Your Soul. Released in October 2008, the album reached the top of the UK charts.
