The 7,5km Cadiz Freedom Swim from Robben Island to Big Bay in Blouberg is regarded as one of the most extreme swimming challenges in the world due to the icy temperatures (10 - 14 degrees), sharks, strong currents and choppy waters.
South African big wave surfer Grant “Twiggy” Baker took top honours, winning the “Ride of the Year” at the Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards. The award was presented at a glittering function in Anaheim, California this weekend.
